Silent Screams : Where Silence Speaks Volumes

 The tragic incident at Sharda University involving the death of a second-year BDS student in her hostel room, has brought to light disturbing issues of mental health and institutional accountability. The student's suicide note which has been widely circulated, weights two faculty members, "Mahendra Sir" and "Shairy Ma'am," for allegedly subjecting her to prolonged mental torture and humiliation. The note, which reads, "Agar main mar gayi, to Mahendra Sir aur Shairy Ma'am ko jail bhejna. Inhone mujhe mentally torture kiya. Main kaafi time se stress mein hoon," was found in her room. Following the student's death, protests by family and friends were erupted within the university. Students have alleged that the suicide note was tampered with and that protesters were physically assaulted with laathi charge for speaking out. Human rights are fundamental entitlements universal to all individuals, irrespective of their background, gender, or nationality. However, the stark reality is that these rights are frequently disregarded, suppressed, or breached. The agenda of such rights is to elevate inequality and institute growth of the society but unfortunately in this modern world, we are is moving backwards.  In India there isn’t one Radhika Yadav , there are many and the number is frightening. I come from a nation where honour killings have been rooted as customs , choosing the societal idea of dignity over humanity. I come from a nation where till present no matter how far women grow, the society always finds a way to pull them back. I come from a society where men are labelled not “manly enough” if they support feminism or support ideas declared wrong by the society.
